Adding value with sustainable business practices
For Messe Frankfurt, sustainability means acting as a responsible corporate citizen while continuing to strengthen the Group’s performance – it is something that encompasses economic, ecological and social factors. Social, economic and ecological aspects of sustainability are key components of our business and are reflected in the various activities of all parts of the Group worldwide. CSR activities are divided into four areas: Environment/Sustainability, Social Responsibility, Education/Science and Commitment to Culture.
At home in global markets
For more than 30 years, Messe Frankfurt has been active in growth markets worldwide with its sector expertise. A total of 101* trade fairs were held outside Germany in 2018. The events allow SMEs in particular to gain a foothold in emerging markets.

Messe Frankfurt is one of the most successful global players in its sector and, with sales of around €715* million, is the largest trade fair company with its own exhibition grounds. Within the framework of its Fairs & Events, Locations and Services business fields, the company focuses firmly on its customers’ interests, creating successful platforms for interaction with services from a single source. As a reliable partner to individual industry sectors, Messe Frankfurt creates innovative network platforms. More than 4.5* million visitors came together at more than 490* events held under the Messe Frankfurt umbrella worldwide in 2018. Every year, it organises some 150 trade fairs in Frankfurt and at many other locations around the world while also playing host to around some 280 guest events at its Frankfurt base.
From a medieval marketplace to global trade fair partner
Frankfurt has been a renowned trade fair site for more than 800 years. Back then, merchants and businessmen met at the “Römer”, a medieval building in the heart of the city that served as a market place; from 1909 onwards, they came together on the grounds of the new Festhalle.
Frankfurt exhibitions ground: a city within a city
Located at the heart of financial and business centre Frankfurt, the exhibition grounds are among the largest and most modern worldwide with more than 400,000 m² of hall area and approximate 60,000 m² of free space at its disposal. As well as excellent international transport connections by air, rail and road, the exhibition venue enjoys excellent public transport connections.
